OT Referral Process

  1. Parent or Teacher raises concern

  2. Referral meeting is requested

  3. A meeting is held within 10 days of the request

  4. An educational team that includes the parents hold a plan and permission meeting to discuss whether testing is needed to gain more understanding of how the child is functioning within the academic setting

  5. Any evaluations that were decided on need to be completed within 60 days

  6. Evaluation summary meeting is held to review all findings

  7. Identification determination

  8. IEP or 504 developed or community based resources identified

  9. Treatment of student and continued progress monitoring of identified goals

Our Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants provide direct and consultative services to a wide range of students. We support students in all aspects of their educational environment and nonacademic areas of the school day to improve functional independence in daily activities of academics, mental health, sensory motor performance, and social skills.

What We Do

As licensed Occupational Therapists, we work closely with students, families, educational teams, and the medical community. We provide access to the following services:

  • Evaluation of motor development and proficiency, sensory processing, visual perception, functional life skills and self-care skills using a variety of standardized assessments and clinical observations
  • Child Find/Kindergarten Screenings for motor skills
  • Direct, co- treatment, individual and group therapy for students identified with educational disabilities
  • Consultation services utilizing a team approach with students, parents, school staff, and clinical based providers
  • Adaptations of materials and classroom accommodations to support students access to the regular curriculum including assistive technology
  • Participate in and support plans for students as they transition through grade levels and from school to vocation
  • School staff education on topics such as: self-regulation, adaptive equipment, assistive technology, motor development, and specific medical diagnoses as they apply to students with disabilities in the educational setting
